About the program

StandUp is an education program empowering teenagers to recognise knife violence warning signs and seek support.

Our program is designed to educate young people about the dangers of knife crime, its legal consequences, and how to take responsible action if they or someone they know is affected by it. Delivered directly in schools, the program helps children understand the serious legal implications of carrying or using a knife, as well as the emotional and physical harm that can result.

The program focuses on:

Understanding knife crime

The law and legal outcomes of carrying and using knives.

Knowing the consequences

The broad impact that knife carrying can have on communities and families.

Reporting and seeking help

How to safely report crime, seek support from trusted adults, and access professional help.

Creating change

Through this program we aim to give young people the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to navigate social challenges in a responsible, safe, and informed manner.

The program combines interactive lessons, case studies, and open discussions to engage students and promote a deeper understanding of these important issues. We aim to give young people the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to navigate challenges in a responsible, safe, and informed manner. To encourage young people to make positive choices and support each other, to create safe and respectful communities.

Our approach:

StandUp is informed by research and addresses current trends seen by law enforcement. It incorporates insights from students, police, educators and industry professionals.

The StandUp program complements the work of the Jack Beasley Foundation (JBF) and Balin Stewart Foundation (BSF), creating a dual focus and broader reach of knife crime education.
