About the program

StandUp is an education program empowering teenagers to recognise knife violence warning signs and seek support.

Our program is designed to educate young people about the dangers of knife crime, the legal consequences associated with carrying a knife, and how to take responsible action if they or someone they know is affected by it.

Delivered directly in schools, the program helps young Queenslanders to understand the serious legal implications of carrying or using a knife, as well as the emotional and physical harm that can occur from choosing to carry a knife.

The program focuses on:

The law and legal outcomes of carrying and using knives.

The broad impact that knife carrying can have on communities and families.

How to safely report a crime, seek support from trusted adults, and access professional help.

Through this program we aim to give young people the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to navigate social challenges in a responsible, safe, and informed manner.

The program combines interactive lessons, case studies, and open discussions to engage students and promote a deeper understanding of these important issues. We aim to give young people the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to navigate challenges in a responsible, safe, and informed manner. To encourage young people to make positive choices and support each other, to create safe and respectful communities.

StandUp is informed by research and addresses current trends seen by law enforcement. It incorporates insights from students, police, educators and industry professionals.

The StandUp program complements the work of the Jack Beasley Foundation (JBF) and Balin Stewart Foundation (BSF), creating a dual focus and broader reach of knife crime education.
